Post-1.0 Patches (Aug–Sep 2026)

HotBunny shipped a rapid post-launch patch cluster from August 5 through September 12, 2026, refining the HackHub Ultimate Hacker Simulator 1.0 experience on Steam app 2980270. Version 1.0.0 (August 1) introduced multiplayer, Workshop, and the Content SDK — follow-up builds polish desktop workflow, multiplayer hosting economics, GreyMarket performance, online session recovery, Apple Silicon performance, and player-made websites. This page summarizes 1.0.12, 1.0.14, 1.0.15, 1.0.16, 1.0.19, and September 2026 patches (1.0.20–1.0.22) from an operator perspective and links to guides that changed behavior.

Randomized mission data (IPs, passwords, ports) is unchanged. Patches adjust systems — UI shortcuts, rental server routing, marketplace pagination, chat navigation, sign-in recovery, and platform binaries — not fixed walkthrough answers.

Patch 1.0.12 — desktop, streaming, and server rentals

Multi-select on desktop and in folders

HotBunny added box-select and keyboard multi-select across the in-game desktop and File Explorer:

  • Drag a selection box across icons to highlight a group.
  • Ctrl+click, Shift+click, and Ctrl+A extend or select all.
  • Escape clears the selection.
  • Drag one selected icon and the whole group moves together, snapped to the grid.
  • Delete removes the entire selection (with confirmation) to the recycle bin.

These shortcuts mirror modern OS behavior and speed up loot organization before long Journalist’s Sister chapters. Full binding details live on the Controls page.

Streaming Mode

Streaming Mode masks on-screen IP addresses and email addresses with neutral labels so stream viewers cannot harvest your session-specific targets. Copy operations, logs, and scripts still receive real values — only the visible UI is redacted. Enable it before broadcasting PvP or procedural company raids documented in Multiplayer.

Rented servers as egress

Rented servers became tactically meaningful in 1.0.12:

  • Hold an SSH shell on a rental and traffic from tools you launch routes through that box.
  • Access logs, surveillance, and ban fiction land on the rental instead of your home line.
  • Domains rent by day or month (not year-only) with renewal dates, lapsed states, and a Renew button.
  • Live catalog pricing — storefront prices match checkout.
  • Registrar differences — GoDiddy vs budget registrars now affect cost and features.

Pair rental egress with MP commands (openvpn, pivot, watch) from the Commands Reference. Process still demands fresh whois and nmap per lobby — see Multiplayer.

Patch 1.0.14 — GreyMarket and remote access

GreyMarket pagination and sorting

The GreyMarket floor now loads 20 offers per page with prev/next controls and a running match count. Search, sort, and paging happen server-side, so floors with thousands of listings no longer freeze the UI. A sort dropdown (newest, oldest, cheapest, dearest, etc.) sits beside search; column headers still work as before.

Sell dialog price warnings

When listing contraband, the sell dialog warns if your ask exceeds what auto-buyers watch for. It names the bite price, discount from face value, and projected clearance payout if you hold out — reducing accidental undercuts during Multiplayer economy loops.

SSH and FTP to rented and shared boxes

1.0.14 enabled SSH into another operator’s rented server using credentials they share — access lasts for the session. 2. FTP works from File Gorilla or the terminal into your own rental or someone else’s. 3. The ftp command reaches real multiplayer hosts (previously limited to single-player queues).

Certificate and decoder copies onto rentals gained full support in 1.0.16 — see below for the full reconciliation rules.

Patch 1.0.15 — rename and online stability

F2 rename on desktop and in File Explorer

F2 renames the focused file on the desktop or in File Explorer. With multiple icons selected, F2 renames the first item in the group. Improvements over the old six-character box:

  • Rename field grows with your text.
  • Click away accepts; Escape cancels.
  • Blank name cancels instead of creating an empty filename.
  • Icons show full names; hover tooltips display complete filenames.

Organize loot notes and wordlists faster before Hydra or Password Cracking runs.

Online session recovery

Losing an online session no longer requires a full restart. Previously, expired sign-in surfaced as an empty menu, git clone refusing every repository, and PLAY dead-ending on “You’re not signed in.” Patched clients re-sign automatically and continue. Slow Steam handshakes at startup no longer disable online features for the entire run.

If PLAY still fails after updating, verify Steam connectivity and read Troubleshooting before deleting saves.

Patch 1.0.16 — chat, readmes, and rental certificates

Chat improvements

  • All pinned messages list at once.
  • Pins and reply quotes jump to the target message anywhere in history.
  • Jump to present button when you have scrolled away from live chat.

Co-op teams coordinating procedural company raids benefit from faster callout navigation — see Multiplayer.

Repository readme rendering

Workshop and git repository readmes render properly again: headings, bold, lists, tables, and code blocks display correctly; banner art keeps aspect ratio instead of smearing. Readmes are discovered as readme.md as well as readme.txt.

Mod authors publishing via Steam Workshop or the Content SDK should re-check listing pages after this patch.

Certificates and decoders on rented servers

Certificates, decoders, and loot copied onto a rented box now work from that box — openvpn, authkey, appraise, and decode run locally on the rental. Selling and laundering still require the original files on your own machine. If a copy drifts out of sync with the source, tools prompt you to copy again instead of failing silently.

Network error messaging

When the game cannot reach HotBunny servers, the client now reports that the address is blocked on your network and names common causes (firewall, DNS, ISP filtering) instead of a generic failure string.

Patch 1.0.19 — performance, Apple Silicon, and websites

Released August 9, 2026, patch 1.0.19 targets platform and presentation bugs that appeared after the 1.0 multiplayer launch:

Major performance pass

HotBunny shipped major performance improvements across the game — desktop windowing, terminal redraw, and multiplayer company page loads benefit most. If you still see hitching after updating, verify Steam downloaded the new depot and close background overlays before filing a bug.

Apple Silicon Macs get the correct binary

M-series Macs previously could receive a near-unplayable build. 1.0.19 ships the correct Apple Silicon version so Metal-native clients run as intended. After updating on an M1/M2/M3/M4 Mac:

  1. Fully quit Steam and relaunch.
  2. Verify integrity of game files if the binary still feels wrong.
  3. Re-check System Requirements and Troubleshooting if icons or sleep-wake glitches persist.

Intel Macs continue on their existing path; the fix is specifically about serving the right architecture.

Hack glitch effect no longer freezes the screen

The cinematic glitch effect during a successful hack previously could freeze the display. 1.0.19 restores the animation without locking input — useful mid-Journalist’s Sister or timed Hack the Hub contracts.

Player-made websites load again

Workshop / Content SDK player-made websites had stopped loading icons, fonts, and animations, often rendering blank pages. 1.0.19 restores asset loading so mod authors can retest published sites — see Content SDK and Steam Workshop.

Multiplayer company site art restored

Procedural company websites in multiplayer were missing product photos, menu pictures, team shots, and logos. Assets are back and pages load faster than before — improves reconnaissance fiction when you browse company sites before whois / nmap chains in Multiplayer.

September 2026 patches — 1.0.20 through 1.0.22

HotBunny released three sequential patches between September 10 and September 12, 2026, continuing the post-1.0 refinement cycle. These builds focus on UI polish, stability improvements, and multiplayer economy tuning without altering the core simulation loop.

Build 25235819 (September 10, 2026)

The September 10 build delivers initial stability refinements:

  • Memory management improvements — reduced footprint during long multiplayer sessions with multiple terminal windows.
  • Save integrity checks — better validation when Steam Cloud syncs conflict with local saves.
  • GreyMarket listing preview — hover tooltips on floor items show cached preview images before full load.

Build 25271732 (September 12, 2026)

The September 12 build continues polish:

  • UI responsiveness refinements — smoother transitions when switching between desktop and in-game browser.
  • Terminal scrollback — improved performance when logging high-volume command output to terminal.log.
  • Multiplayer host discovery — friend servers appear faster in the lobby browser when on the same network.

Additional September refinements (1.0.21–1.0.22)

  • Steam overlay compatibility — improved handling when Shift+Tab is used mid-session on macOS.
  • Workshop subscription sync — mods you subscribe to in-browser now queue faster for in-game installation.
  • Certificate chain display — openvpn and authkey output now shows readable chain summaries instead of raw DER.

What these patches do not change

  • Single-player story seeds — Journalist’s Sister and Eppenstein Files still randomize per save.
  • Core tool syntax — nmap, Metasploit, Hydra, and sqlmap workflows on the Tools Hub remain process-driven.
  • Achievement count — still 10 Steam trophies; see Achievements.
  • Sitemap policy — this wiki lists English content URLs plus locale homepages per site rules.

Recommended post-patch checklist

  1. Update Steam to 1.0.22 or later (verify build date in library properties).
  2. On Apple Silicon Macs, fully restart Steam once after the depot updates.
  3. Re-read Controls for multi-select, F2 rename, and Streaming Mode.
  4. Test one Multiplayer lobby with rental egress and confirm company site art loads.
  5. Re-subscribe or update Workshop mods if websites or SDK hooks broke before September builds.
  6. Bookmark Updates Hub for the next HotBunny milestone.

HotBunny’s post-1.0 period focused on operator QoL, online stability, and platform correctness — the simulation core (scan, match, exploit, crack) stays the same, but desktop, Mac, and multiplayer friction dropped measurably through August and September 2026. Keep personal scan notes per save; patches improve systems, not spoiler addresses.
